Our History
In 1967 Isabel Amengual started Merchants Market on the island of St. Thomas. She spent the next 26 years opening distribution facilities on the Caribbean islands of St. Maarten, St. Thomas, St. Croix, and Anguilla. Isabel ensured customers had exclusive products, quality service, and a seamless order/delivery process, which established Merchants Market as the leading and largest broad line distributor in the Leeward & Virgin Islands.
The Merchants Group was acquired by Clare Holdings in 2013. With new ownership came a renewed dedication to providing the best goods and services in the Caribbean. Clare Holdings invested in the facilities, delivery equipment, information systems, and made a commitment to provide customers with top-quality products and smart business solutions.
