I was first introduced to Blues’ a few years ago. Described as a St Croix institution, friends were telling me that I must go to this place when I was on St Croix. Once I stepped foot on the property, I can see why! Not your typical bar with TV’s and stuffiness, Blues’ is located completely outdoors and strives to give customers a welcoming atmosphere with live music and fresh high-quality food in a comfortable casual atmosphere that is rarely found these days. There is a large bar area with a cover that promotes socializing instead of looking at your phone. There is a separate building where you can get the infamous Blue’s barbecue. Dotted throughout the property are picnic tables and a stage to watch local performers.
Deb and Jim Smith opened Blues’ four years ago. “We have always loved BBQ and wanted to bring St Croix a casual, comfortable place to relax with friends. Our goal is to make our customers feel as if they are guests at our home for a backyard cookout. “
In addition to quality food, Deb and Jim are great people who genuinely want to make their customers happy. What also makes this place special are the people who work there. Matthew is a great cook who sincerely wants to feed his customers, not his ego. Eddie and Tim are bartenders that are quick to greet every customer and make them feel welcome. Glasses never go empty at Blues’! It’s a busy place with many happy regular customers, all with one thing in mind, RELAXING!
Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, Blues’ offers daily specials. However, the locals and tourists (who found their way through the recommendation of locals!) will tell you that it’s not JUST the atmosphere and employees, it’s the high-quality food cooked right on site. Whether it’s a hamburger, chicken sandwich, pulled pork, slow smoked brisket or grilled fish sandwich, you cannot beat the value, quality or price.
Blues’ is located at 32K La Grande Princess (Rt 75 Northside Road) in Christiansted. You can follow them on Facebook at Blues’ Backyard BBQ and Grill.
