Owner and Chef John Bertorelli grew up in Astoria Queens New York. “I am from an Italian family and I watched my Mother and Aunt cook my entire life. When I had the chance to buy an authentic New York pizza place in the Caribbean, I jumped at the chance.” Located in Havensight for the past 24 years, John uses recipes from the past to create that perfect crust, “crisp and foldable” in order to “achieve the classic New York style fold. Our ingredients are always fresh, providing the authentic taste of our original recipe since 1988.” When asked what makes his restaurant unique, John answers that it is the “true authentic New York pizza made by a New Yorker! Everything is made from scratch and with “AMORE” (love!).”
Two years ago this month, St Thomas was hit with a major Cat 5 hurricane, John says that they “had a small amount of water in the restaurant but since all of the power lines on this part of the island are underground, I got to open within the week.”
Now let’s talk pizza! Enjoy their 16”, 18” or BIG “20” cheese pies or add toppings such as “The Works” with pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, onion, green peppers, black olives and extra cheese. Not a meat lover? Then try “The Veggie” with mushroom, tomato, onion, green peppers, black olives and extra cheese” or custom create your own pizza with the toppings YOU prefer.
