ST THOMAS: BANANA TREE GRILLE – CUSTOMER OF THE MONTH MAY 2017

Jerry and Liz Buckalew are no strangers to the restaurant business. They are the proud owners of Banana Tree Grille at Bluebeard’s Castle on St Thomas. Open for dinner only, this fine dining establishment is an eclectic seafood and steak house specializing in grass-fed beef, locally caught seafood and local produce when available.

“I had the honor of training with the owners of the famous St Thomas Guest House & Restaurant which closed after Hurricane Hugo. In 1979 we opened Entre Nous in a small house on the north side of St Thomas.” In 1997 they relocated to Bluebeard’s Castle and re-created the dining experience to become Banana Tree Grille.  “Guests no longer wanted to dress formally, but they still wanted excellent food and service in a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.”

Locals and tourists alike enjoy happy hour and daily specials created by Chef David Benjamin. Start your meal with House-Made Ravioli DiGiorno prepared daily by Chef Benjamin.   Or perhaps the Lump Crab Cakes.  And don’t forget the “House Favorite”….THE “Oh My” Gorgonzola Loaf…crusty ciabatta loaf baked with garlic and extra virgin olive oil, surrounded by shameless gorgonzola sauce!  The center-of-the-plate offerings include, The Banana Tree Filet, Grilled Pork Rib Eye, Maple Leaf Farm Duck Breast, and  Pan-Seared Sea Scallops & Bacon Tomato Jam, just to name a few.

So what makes this dining establishment so special: Fantastic Food! A Beautiful Charlotte Amalie Harbor view! And most importantly, an amazing staff of 20 employees that pride themselves on Customer Service!

Banana Tree Grille is available for corporate functions, weddings, and all “celebrations” and is located at the entrance to Bluebeard’s Castle, Bluebeard’s Hill, 1331 Estate Taamburg, Charlotte Amalie. Follow them on Twitter @bananatreegrillevi and Facebook.
