When visiting the beautiful island of Anguilla, a must stop is English Rose. Open for 17 years serving lunch and dinner, owner Jed Hunte named the restaurant in honor of his wife, Sharon, who is from England and has Anguillian parents. “She was my beautiful rose and I decided that it what I would name the restaurant, ‘English Rose’.”
The restaurant is casual and boasts a menu with both American and Caribbean cuisine including some classic island favorites created by Chef Floyd Gumbs. Their central location, Lansome Plaza in The Valley, makes it a great meeting place and hangout for the locals of all ages as well as a busy lunch destination for those working in the nearby government buildings, offices, and businesses. The Express Lunch buffet menu (12 noon – 4 p.m.) makes it a quick and easy stop if you are in a hurry. If you prefer to sit down and order, one of Jed and Sharon’s smiling wait staff will be more than happy to tell you about the daily specials and fresh cooked to order entrees.
Jed took over the family pizza business but new that his passion for good food and good pricing made opening this restaurant a reality. If a private event such as a wedding, private party or cocktail reception is in your future, check out the area upstairs reserved for private events and large parties. English Rose is open 6 days a week (Monday – Saturday) from 9:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
