Together We Fight: Standing With Our Community for Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month — and if you stopped by our office today, you saw a whole lot of pink.

Our Merchants Market team showed up in matching pink shirts that say it plainly: Together We Fight. We wore them for the mothers, sisters, daughters, coworkers, and friends — in Florida, St. Thomas, St. Croix, Anguilla, and everywhere our Merchants family reaches — whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.

The numbers are hard to ignore: about 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Behind every one of those numbers is a family holding its breath, a friend showing up with dinner, a coworker covering a shift without being asked. We’ve seen that strength in our own community, and today was our way of saying: we see you, and we’re in this with you.

Awareness only matters if it turns into action, so here’s our reminder — to our team, our customers, and ourselves:

  • Know your normal. If something changes, don’t wait — get it checked.
  • Get screened. Mammograms catch breast cancer early, when it’s most treatable. If you’re due, make the appointment.
  • Pass it on. Remind one woman you love to do the same. That conversation saves lives.

To everyone fighting right now: you are not fighting alone. To the survivors: your courage carries the rest of us. And to the families who have lost someone they love: we remember them with you.

Together we fight — today, this month, and every month after.
